An enclosure built to survive the field, not the inspection
A power distribution equipment manufacturer needed aluminum enclosures built to withstand demanding outdoor industrial environments, not just pass a dimensional check at final inspection. Enclosures returning from early field units showed seam and coating issues that hadn't shown up in the shop.
MachiniX reviewed the fabrication and finishing sequence together, rather than treating them as separate stages. Weld sequence was adjusted to reduce distortion at the seams most exposed to weather, and the powder coat process was requalified for the specific corrosion exposure the enclosures see in the field, not just a standard salt-spray baseline.
The finished process now moves an enclosure from laser-cut panel to coated, sealed unit without leaving the building, so fabrication and finishing decisions get made by the same team instead of handed off across vendors.
01) Seam integrity
Adjusted weld sequencing reduces distortion at the seams most exposed to weather, closing the gap between shop inspection and field performance.
02) Field-matched coating
The powder coat process was requalified against the enclosure's actual field exposure, not a generic corrosion standard.
03) Single-site process
Fabrication and finishing run on the same floor, so a coating decision can respond directly to a fabrication detail instead of crossing a vendor handoff.
04) Field reliability
Enclosures now match their in-shop inspection results after time in service, closing the gap that early field returns had exposed.
